Best Scotch Gifts 2014

There's no doubt about it, if you're looking for a gift for a whisky lover, a bottle of single malt will always be well received. However, if you're looking for something a little different, or maybe something that will last for a long time as a memory or keepsake, there are plenty of options available to you.

Whisky decanters always make a really classy gift. You don't need to decant whisky of course. It's not like wine; it won't change its flavor due to exposure to air (that's because it has a high alcohol by volume content - 40% or higher). Nevertheless, a nice decanter, with some nice whisky in it, looks great.

A nice, heavy whisky glass is also a popular choice - as is a whisky flask. Whisky chilling stones are becoming more popular with whisky lovers who want a cool drink without melting ice diluting their dram and spoiling the flavor.

Those are just some of the available options. Here's a nice visual presentation of some of the best Scotch gifts 2014 - just click on it to view.

Lead Free Crystal Whisky Glasses

Whisky glasses need to be lead free these days (of course).

I must admit, I do like the feel of a nice heavy crystal glass when I'm having a whisky. It adds to the experience somehow.

Whilst I do like the Glencairn type of glass, especially when I'm sampling a new whisky for the first time, for more "casual" imbibing, I tend to like the classic tumbler type a little more.

A bit less fussy, a little bit more down to earth - but still with a little gravitas to it if you know what I mean.

Anyway, here's a collection of lead free crystal glasses which I cobbled together on Glossi. I really like the Waldorf glass. That's it on the "cover". It's a classic. Just enough decoration to be interesting, and more than a little stylish, without becoming a distraction from the main event (just my opinion of course).

Choosing A Whisky Flask

Different Whisky Flask Options

With Christmas fast approaching, it might be time to start thinking about gift options. If you're looking for a gift for a whisky lover, then a whisky flask is always a good idea.

Don't worry that they already have one, it's always handy to have one (or more) in reserve. And there are so many different types to choose from that you can always pick something new for the whisky buff in your family/life.

Here's a short presentation showing just a few of the options available to you:

Gift Ideas For Whisky Lovers

Putting the rather obvious bottle of whisky to one side (for the moment at least), there are plenty of different gift options that you can choose for the whisky fan in your life. It will depend upon the individual in question of course, but there are many alternatives that you might wish to consider.

Whisky decanters may not be strictly necessary to enjoy whisky at its best - but they do make a very nice, and decorative, addition to a whisky lover's collection. Likewise, a nice, heavy crystal glass can be something that many whisky lover's would, quite literally, love to get their hands on.

Other options include whisky flasks, which are always useful for the whisky drinker on the go, and whisky chilling stones are becoming ever more popular with those who want their favorite tipple cooled - but not diluted.

Here's a short presentation that I made - just to give you a few ideas. Use the left and right arrows to navigate through it. If you see anything that you like, just click on an image or a link.

Choosing A Gift For A Whisky Lover

Whisky Gift Ideas

If you're looking for a gift for a whisky lover, it's not really too difficult a task. A bottle of single malt will always be gratefully received. You'll be very popular (especially if you go for an 18 year old).

However, you might want to choose something a little different. Maybe you want something that will last a little longer, to mark a special occasion perhaps. Or maybe you want something different just because you always seem to give them a bottle of whisky.

Whatever the reason, there are plenty of alternative gift options for the whisky lover in your life. There's something to suit all budgets and all personal tastes. In fact, you're spoiled for choice.

Speaking as a whisky lover myself, I feel qualified to judge what is a useful, and welcome, gift for someone who likes whisky. So that's just what I'm going to do.

This little blog will have a look at some of the gifts which you can choose for whisky lovers - and they will all be gifts which will be received with gratitude - and used rather than left to gather dust.

Have a look around, I'm sure that there will be something that takes your fancy.
